The city of Quibdó. Is choco`s capital and one of the few cities in the country where 87.7% of its habitants belong to the Afro-Colombian ethnic group.

• Population: 6.295 Habitants

The city is located in one of Colombia's most forested regions, close to large ecological reserves such as the Emberá National Natural Park and one of the regions with a large number of indigenous reserves.

The city is on the banks of the river Atrato one of the areas with the highest rainfall in the world.

Atrato River

• Is one of the largest rivers in the world 

• It is from quibdo and it has a lenght 750 kilometers 

• It has conecction with Atantic and pacific ocean.

 Religion

In the city predominate two groups or religious sectors that identify the beliefs of the majority of the people, on one side of the balance are Christians - Protestants and on the other side the Christians – Catholics who are majority.

FESTIVALS

San Francisco de Asís to the most popular festival in the department of Choco, the feast of San Pacho is celebrated on September and it takes two weeks, during this period the habitants celebrate on the rhythm of Chirimía and Bunde Around the neighborhoods of Quibdo.

PLACES TO VISIT

San Francisco of Asis Cathedral

It is one of the emblematic places of Quibdó, on the banks of the Atrato river in the whole main park. The Cathedral is very well preserved and has a very pleasant area to observe the river Atrato.

MALECON

It is a small place on the River River. You can see the church of San Francisco and the river with its fishermen and local houses, there are also many restaurants of typical food. You can fish and meet the river Atrato on boat.

MANUELA MOSQUERA PARK

This park is very popular both in the day and at night, it is part of the pink area of Quibdó and nearby are good restaurants, recommended to visit
